PASSIONATE LACE AFFAIR

Hey hey hey!

I've been planning on doing another "ootd" post like last time, and this time I feel like doing a look with a sense of chic,  girly and a tinge of glamour. You know, casual with a little bit of sophistication? That's what I'm talking about.

Without further ado, here's the look that I came up with today!

Dress: Material Girl by Madonna
Bag: TOD'S

This kind of look is the one that you can most appropriately pull off when attending a friend's fancy birthday party or a special date. The one where you dress to impress without attracting waaaaayyy too much attention.

Heels: Carla Boutique

Choker: Topshop

I seriously love my eye makeup. It's sultry, smokey, yet not too overwhelming.   A bazillion thanks to my friend, Evelyn Clarissa, once more! I can't thank you enough <3

Ring: P.L.O

And now, for a few more photos just because ;)

Thank you so much for scrolling 'till the end, and for checking my "ootd" post! Also to my other two friends who were also there in the making, Octaviana Halim and Tania Hambali!

I hope you find this look inspiring in any way and enjoyed yourselves in the process! Once again, merci beaucoup lovelies <3

Until my next post. Bye!

ELIE SAAB FALL/WINTER HAUTE COUTURE 2014-2015 FASHION SHOW

Holy shite did this fashion show make me drop dead on my tracks (sorry I'm not making any sense).

I've got no words, because Mr. Saab's work is just that amazing. The dresses (I mean, every single one of them) were out-of-this world beautiful. For approximately 15 minutes, I could have sworn I was transported to this faerie land where all my fashion fantasies became real, only to realize that I have only been sitting on my red, rotating chair the whole time after the show ended. I can't imagine if I was there in person; I would have jumped like a madwoman and pooped in my pants.

Elie Saab is widely known for the usage of bold brocades and feminine colours in creating dresses that radiate the auras of surrealism (due to their absolute beauty), extra-terrestrial (in the best way possible) and enchanting enticement. His dresses are proof that fantasies do come true, because his dresses are those that make the wearer feel like a princess freshly stepped out of a fairy tale. They are so gorgeous in every kind of way. It's no secret that I adore Elie Saab so much; he has become my ultimate favorite haute couture designer.

Paris Fashion Week just ended recently, and of course, I will not miss the chance to post about this brilliant Elie Saab show. I won't lie - this show is the only show that affected me this much. This show had held my breath, widened my eyes, and made my mouth form an O more than once. Yes, the dresses surprised me that much. If only things can materialize from thin air.

Anyways, here goes the pictures. Reviews on the bottom of the pictures will be very brief, because you know what? You won't need words to convince you of the dress's magnificence. Prepare for an eyegasm, peeps.

One last warning: the word beautiful will be repeated without mercy, my friend.

Now get what I'm saying? Feel your heart stopping already?

Floral patterns and baby hues are two of my most favorite elements to put on a dress. Beautiful.

This one is so princess-like, with the playful silvery light-blue gems and ombre.  I think Aurora from Sleeping Beauty will suit this dress a lot. Hey, why don't we petition for Elie Saab to design new Disney Princesses' dresses?

Elsa's dress had just came to reality, my friends. Mr. Saab surely has a secret admiration to Disney princesses. THE OMBRE THOUGH. Shades of blue have always been my undoing.

Not my favorite from the show, mainly due to the use of satin. The peach color is worth seeing, though.

Baby blue is definitely the bomb. The brocades added sophistication and calm claimer to everyone's attention. I'd prefer if the sleeves were shorter though.

Aside from long gowns, Elie also created a range of short dresses with only one style (like one shown in the picture above) but different colours and patterns. For instance, the one on top features champagne and blue, with intricate beads embedded on the dress. One other chose to be decorated with floral patterns similar to those on the dress which was shown at the very top of the pictures. Nevertheless, all of them are beautiful. Absolutely the dress I want the most from the show.

Another short dress with a similar style like the latter, only differing from the collar and the patterns. This one is similar to the dress shown on this blog's third picture. I'm sorry I'm being super repetitive.

WOWZA this is gorgeously beautiful. I've got no words, you guys can see the beauty of the dress by yourselves.

Dem glitter; it sparkles more radiantly than Edward Cullen. The neckline is bee-yoo-tee-fool.

One sparkly hell of a gradient. The red hues are gorgeous.
 Loving him was RED ;)
Apologies for the Taylor Swift lyrics. Tehee.

Time to talk conservative! But not too conservative, though. Even those adornments can't hide dem legs ;)
I love the addition of the embellished "overshirt" though.

Who's in love with red-ombre chiffon dresses? This girl. Damn, that dress looks breezy, super comfy.

Those embellishments have made me dropped dead. Although I am curious on what's underneath the fur scarf (and is the fur faux?). Loving the flowy A-line <3

Champagne colours for the win! And the belt :)

Brown colour gradient for the flowy, chiffon dress. I can bet underneath the fur is the dress closely similar to the red ombre chiffon dress.

To close the show; as always; the wedding dress of the season was paraded. Take a closer look and you'll instantly feel that fairy-tale princess vibe. Isn't it beautiful? I WANT THIS FOR MY WEDDING DRESS, PERIOD.

There were much more dressed showcased at the show, so I recommend you to watch the full video by checking out this link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zKs1ZZZYD0
You wouldn't regret looking at those fine dresses. Well, maybe you will watching the vid will make you desire the dress more. Watch with your own concern, then.

I could have sworn that this fashion show is by far the best I have ever seen in a very, very long time. Even with a backdrop that was solely adorned with chandeliers and not as creative as other fashion show settings (Chanel with the supermarket, Louis Vuitton with an abandoned station and carousel, etc), it turned out to be classically pleasing to the eye, and really brought out that elegant, sophisticated vibe of a ballroom. Also, it complimented the already magical experience. It was really pleasant to watch.

P.S: Now count the number of times I've said beautiful. Bahahha.

Poulet at Vivo City

Hey there! 'Sup?

So recently my mother and I went to Singapore for no particular reason besides to eat and shop (two of my most favorite things to do in the world). We had the chance to visit a handful of eateries. My tummy was dancing in joy, and I can bet I've gained at least 2 kgs. Unfortunately though, I can't fit reviews on all of them in this blog - there's too many of them, and most of the time I did not have the chance to take decent pictures of them because of the rush I was in.

We were wondering where to eat next when my Singaporean uncle recommended this trending French restaurant, Poulet. This restaurant actually has a lot of branches, so I headed to one which was closest to my then current location.

Here's a look at the Vivo City branch:

To my surprise, Poulet (French word for chicken) is located right across Jamie's Italian! You know, Jamie Oliver's restaurant?

Poulet is in fact not as authentic as I thought. When said to be a French restaurant, the first thing that came to mind is a place that served French food only. For instance, the restaurant put tiramisu, a renowned Italian treat, as their star dessert.

Let's start showing the food pictures, shall we?

      Escargot de Bourgogne, $8.80
There's one more thing that makes Poulet different from other French restaurants, and that is their bold move of modifying traditional dishes. This escargot, for example, is peculiar. Instead of using tons of garlic, a sour, tangy taste was used instead. Maybe a tang of tomato? I don't really recognize.

I can't really say that I like this fusion. It didn't really work for me. Even if the snail texture is adequate, I won't be ordering this dish again. I tried to open my mind about this, but I really can't.

               Salad de Paris, $9.80
Unlike it's predecessor, this dish is uh-may-zing! Sweet, playful dressing? Check. Crisp and fresh romaine lettuce? Check. Additions of extra ingredients like avocadoes, cherry tomatoes and pine nuts? Check. I appreciate that they chop the greens, made it easier to put into the mouth. And the pine nuts? Dayum!

           Iberico Pork Belly, $15.80
The first of the main dishes. Though my meal wasn't started by a fantastic appetiser (the escargot, by the way), the main course made me happy. The pork belly was cooked to perfect tenderness that it melted in my mouth. Beneath, creamy, smooth mashed potatoes packed with flavors pampered my toungue with every bite. (Not yet done)

          Poulet Roti (whole), $28.80
Man is this chicken flawless! The chicken meat was not at all difficult to chew; it's super tender. In addition, the creamy white sauce really did seep into the chicken. There's a slight crisp to the skin too.

Just a closer look on the chicken.

And yes, the mushroom was gorgeous as Audrey Hepburn.

The out-of-this-world white sauce.

Will you just take a look at that beauty. Overall taste is savoury, and infinite sips can never bore you out. I can tell a good broth and cooking creamwere used in the making. I don't know any more words that can be used to describe this sauce. Just try it guys.

                   Tiramisu, $7.80
Last but not least, finally we tried the oh-so-famous tiramisu. It's just like any other classic tiramisu - sponge cake soaked in coffee, layered with mascarpone cheese, a dash of white chocolate, topped with cocoa powder. It's a decent dessert, I say. I do like the fact that the coffee was not to overwhelming, and that this dessert id not to sweet. It's worth a shot.

So there goes my review peeps! Hoped you find this helpful in any way. Poulet is my recommendation if someday you wish to visit Singapore. Try it out guys! You'll have a great casual French dining experience!

Depot Gang Djangkrik at Sungkono

HELLO THERE! DO YOU MISS ME?

For the holiday (part 1) my cousins and I went to Surabaya to visit our Surabayan cousins for a lengthy 10 days. Of course, besides goofing around and wrecking our cousins place, we were also taken to a culinary adventure. Lots of food places were gone to, though unfortunately I can't fit them all in this blog, and most of the time my cousins were too excited for food that they eat them right away, giving me no chance to catch snapshots of the food.

This post will be one of the two Surabayan eateries that I managed to plan a review on. This will be a short review, not as long as usual.

Actually, we ordered around 6 menus here, at Depot Gang Djangkrik. But I only fit 3 menus here because three of the items were; you guessed it; already eaten by my mutinous cousins. Very well then, here goes the pictures.

Cwie Mie Udang Tempura, 28k.
The price is just right - noodles with three chunks of shrimp (which should be named katsu instead of tempura), pieces of chicken and pangsit on the side, how can it not be a good deal? And also, the taste is not disappointing at all.

Nasi Goreng Bacon, 33k.
You heard me, it is bacon! And man were they generous in giving the bacon, which was cooked to crisp goodness. The fried rice itself was a little bit spicy and had an overall salty, tangy taste.

Nasi Goreng Kepiting, 30k.
Crab fried rice that costs 30k? Are you serious? Crab chunks can be found at every spoon, and their freshness were undoubted. The fried rice had the exact same flavor as the Bacon Fried Rice.

For those who are not a fan of red fried rice, don't fret, Chinese fried rice (the white colored one) is also served, although you need to specify your choice to the waiter. Classic Chinese foods are also available on the menu.

A decent meal with a not-so-extravagant price? Check. Really guys, if you are visiting Surabaya or Malang by any chance, check out this place.

Locale Diner at PIK

I AM BACK TO REVIEWING!

After a few posts consisting of only reports and pictures, I am finally jumping back the reviewing wagon. This post is going to be a review the peculiar looking, rather eye catching restaurant which is in a shape of a bus ( a light blue one, to be exact).

Here's a shot of the diner's interior:

I was only around for a snack because me and my girls had just attended another friend's birthday lunch so we pretty much felt that our tummies were close to bursting. Beforehand, I apologize for the terrible photo quality; we were sitting right by the window and were having too much fun to bother to move, or do anything correctly. Tehee.

On to the dishes, then!

Bolognese French Fries, 38k.
To be honest, the fries are soggy and the bolognaise sauce lacked the minced meat that the menu have promised. The flavor of the sauce is just ordinary and the fries was not spiced. The cheese on top did not even taste like cheese. All in all, I think it's a little bit too expensive to my liking.

Corn Tortilla, 36k.
Yet again another dish that it way too overpriced. My photograph said it all; the starter only consists of a bunch of tortilla chips, topped with drizzles of barbecue sauce and probably American Cheese (the flavor of the cheese is too weak I can't even recognize). If you don't think that's too expensive I don't know what's wrong with your mind.

Holly Broccoli and Red Spinach, 38k each.
If there's anything that's going to make me come back to this diner, it's definitely the healthy drinks. Damn, never in my life I have thought that healthy could taste this good! The Holly Broccoli (containing broccoli, honey dew, apple, lemon and gomme) tasted surprisingly sweet and tangy, with tiny accents of the broccoli smell, which is very much tolerable. The Red Spinach (containing red spinach, apple, lemon and gomme) on the other hand, gave no indication of other ingredients besides the sourness of the lemon and apple, but I'm sure the other ingredients are there (where else can the red come from?). I must say that the Red Spinach is a little bit more sour that the Holly Broccoli.

Caramel Panna Cotta, 40k.
The caramel was not sweet enough, so all I tasted was the creaminess of the panna cotta. Texture was not bad, although I can say that I've tasted better, smoother ones. Overall taste was quite bland.

The menu surprised me quite a lot. I walked into the place expecting to find an All-American diner serving solely western comfort foods. Turns out, Locale served huge variations of Asian dishes! Such dishes range from Indonesian street foods like Ketoprak and Soto Ayam up to Asian classics like the Singaporean Laksa or Spicy Seafood Curry!

Oh, and that's my friend's hand up there!

All in all, Locale gave customers a uniquely adorable dining experience, making customers feel as if they were inside an actual bus. The food served was also not all bad, but prices may be a little overpriced. If you haven't been here, I think it's worth a shot.
